Deciding the variety to plant is the most difficult question for an apple grower. In 2002, one year after purchasing our apple orchard, we chose to start replanting with Ambrosia.
The two reasons for this decision were:
- Growing an apple variety in its valley of origin avoids a lot of mistakes.
- Working with the people who started this “Ambrosia apple adventure” is a motivating experience for producing the best apples possible.
Today 1/3 of our apple orchard is Ambrosia.
